Metta Eggs

History of Metta Eggs / Secret Eggs / Wisdom Eggs / Love Eggs

You can read about the history below.

Our proper new website is at mettaeggs.com.

“The most amazing and thoughtful gift, literally.  Thoughts of love and appreciation that often go unsaid, all individually encased to savour the thrill – such a great, truly meaningful gift.  And the treasure chest will be treasured forever” – Lorraine Roberts

Metta Eggs help people share love + respect for each other + happy memories.

They are also available for conferences and workshops as a catalyst for group learning and vision work.

A totally unique, personalised gift service.

Do you want to give a gift that truly helps people be happy?

Are you stuck for something original to give as a special gift?

Are you bored of giving and receiving the same-old-same-old?

Metta Eggs bring people together before, during and after a special celebration.

Inside each egg is a secret message written to celebrate you or your special person.

You give them to a friend or family member, or arrange for them to be made for you.

The eggs are nested inside a beautiful, hand carved box, infused with essential oils. A scroll inside tells the story of how they were made and who made them.

We help inspire people to express themselves…

We facilitate the whole process from beginning to end. We make it easy for you to offer something unforgettable.

“Dear JJ: I’m so glad that I decided to befriend you at soccer tryouts when we were fifteen, even though you were wearing brown track pants tucked into your white socks.  I love you  – Juice.”

Perfect for…

Weddings

Birthdays

Anniversaries

Births or Christenings

Christmas

Graduations

Other special occasions

Warning! Love + respect can be addictive…

Usually we see people want to crack more and more eggs to get the goodies inside. One is never enough. We offer them in a range of ways to suit each situation, or just get in touch for a free consultation.

When you crack an egg, we invite you to pause and really enjoy what’s been created for you. You can crack them all at once, or savour them over the days or months ahead, letting the good feelings roll on and on.

“Dear Dad, this egg is full of my love for your wisdom and advice. I love you. Miranda.”

(To an 80-year-old man, hearing his daughter’s love for the first time.)

How does it work?

1. We help you and your friends write short, lovely messages via our website. Even timid folk and those that say the can’t express themselves can be gently coaxed into saying what the want to.

Metta Eggs founder Libby Davy, FRSA has many years experience helping people communicate and discover their “voice”. It is a subtle art, but the proof is in our testimonials. Prepare to be delighted and surprised!

This is at the heart of what we do and why our customers and their friends are our best advertisement. It can be a really fun and moving experience for all.

2. We make sure there are enough (positive!) messages to fill the order by carefully facilitating the process.

3. Then we hand craft each egg with a message inside it and deliver it on time to your chosen destination.

4. You then give the eggs where and when you want to. They create a wonderful highlight to the day, as the first few get cracked and perhaps read out loud. (We can arrange for special ones to be on the top too).

Metta Eggs is an original community art project conceived and facilitated by Libby Davy. The Egg has been a symbol of potential and renewal throughout the ages.

Our beautiful fairtrade boxes are hand carved from mango wood in a North Indian village. They show the Tree of Life, an ancient way of symbolising how everything is connected and constantly evolving, and how strong the human spirit is. The owl symbolises wisdom. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_of_life

“I will never forget laughing together in the tree in Rosalie Park until the lemonade came foaming out our noses. Thank goodness you’ll be looking more glamorous at your wedding sweet soul sister.”

What does it cost?

From just £90.

Full wedding package available on request.

Contact Simone on (UK) +44 (0)7813 878242 to place an order or ask any questions.

We require 30 days minimum lead time to co-ordinate your personal service and delivery on time. Booking further in advance is highly recommended as word spreads and we get more busy.

What a lovely project =]

I didn’t open my egg straight away and ended up growing quite attached to it! … When I eventually opened it I didn’t really relate to the quote.

However, (little did I know) I was in for quite a rocky and upsetting week, and the quote really helped me to stay positive even though it seemed impossible.

I haven’t got the exact quote to hand, but it basically said that ‘all of the worlds greatest moments were acheived by people when there was no hope at all.’

Thankyou for that Libby, and it was a pleasure to meet you =]

It’s interesting how giving meaning to something effects the way we perceive the world and ourselves in it hey. Glad to have been of assistance. Thanks for participating and reflecting.

What a great project…I have made some “eggs” over time and seem to have an attraction to the spherical shape…hmmm? The symbol of an egg evokes soo much…new life, food, conception, mother hens, easter, bilbies, bunnies, bacon, fragile, marble..its endlessism….

From Zoe Swan (after workshop during White Nights)

My son Isaac did this workshop last night. Libby is really kind and understanding. This is what he said about making wisdom eggs.

‘It was great fun, I loved getting a bit messy with the clay. I wrote messages for my whole family. I then I had to make sure I put the individual messages right in the middle of each of the eggs I made. It was really nice thinking about other people. Then I covered the clay eggs with spices or gold and silver glitter. The spices smelt really nice! We wrapped the eggs in paper nests to keep them safe. Then I put them in a bag. I’m going to save my eggs and give them out at Christmas.’ Isaac Swan 12.

Thanks Libby – Isaac really loved it!”
